Cowboys and Prostitutes

            The common idea of what a cowboy is usually involves a life filled with adventure and respectable moral. We imagine the cowboys we see in movies who are chivalrous and strong; or devote their lives to doing right. Our book challenges these ideas. Firstly, being a cowboy is something that a man would do for no more than a couple of years. It required a lot of hard work and was more of a livelihood—not a lifestyle. Cowboys were also not as chivalrous as we think them to be. There was a lot of violence of cattle towns, and cowboys caused a number of violent acts. In cases wherein violence was at a minimum in a cattle town, prostitution was lively business. These cowboys were unattached young men, and ultimately would take an interest in prostitutes.
